it is in the air. you can feel. it world series fever is spreading across the area and orange is the color of choice. i'm carolyn johnson. >> and i'm dan ashley. 24r* is a president coulding threat of showers, however, and a question of whether it will affect the game. here is 7 news meteorologist sandhya patel with live doppler 7hd. sandhya? >> dan and carolyn, as we check out live doppler 7hd, you will see the next wave of showers already beginning to move in. this is around the ukiah, cloverdale area. i will take new closer, and it has been coming down hard in ukiah. in the last hour, .13 of an inch of rain. as we zoom in around mountain house road northeast of

cloverdale, we are seeing moderate rainfall here. we pan around here and king ridge road and taking you down to street level moderate rain around the bohemian highway. with this rainfall there is concern that we may be looking at some wet weather as we get closer to the world series time. right now this batch of moisture is about 60 miles away. it is moving extremely slow of the let me show you the forecast for the world series. game one is tomorrow night at at&t park. it is going to be partly cloudy at 5:07 and 60 degrees. breezy as the san francisco giants play the tigers at 8:30 p.m. 56 degrees. it is going to be cool, but the showers will wind down by around 2:00, 3:00 in the afternoon. how about the weekend plans? i will be back to tell you about the weather then in a few minutes. >> sandhya, thank you very much. it is pins and needles time. we are on the eve of the world series rain notwithstanding. the giants host the detroit

tigers and the city is bathed in giants orange. some of the city's most famous landmarks are lit up as the first game approaches. if you want to be in the stands tomorrow there is still hope. abc7 goes live to the ballpark. it is not cheap, but doable, right? >> absolutely, dan. the problem is illegal tickets c. police warn that buying tickets on the street is a crime. selling tickets on the street is a crime. if you are not buying tickets from an authorized dealer, they warn that it is buyer be -- beware. >> been to probably 30 plus games so far. excited to go to a couple more. >> starting with the one that matters the most. the match up between the giants and the tigers. >> i am lucky enough to have gotten tickets and i can't wait. >> that's because game one was sold out weeks ago. >> this is the busiest time of the year at stub hub. >> there were tickets, but only available at seat geek and stub hub. >> right now everybody is thinking world series.

right now over 10% of the traffic on the site is world series tickets. >> prices at stub hub range for $275 for standing room only to $8,000 for a lower box seat. seat geek is a site that operates as a ticket search engine. it allows users to compare ticket prices from other sites. >> if you want to go to the game, use the official channels. >> fans looking to the streets for the deal, scalpers make their presence known. but if you dare do it tomorrow, in addition to possibly buying a fake ticket, you may face a fine. >> it is illegal to buy tickets from a scalper. it is illegal to sell tickets in the city and county of san francisco. >> investigators say the technology that scam -- scammers are using makes the detection of a fraudulent ticket with the naked eye nearly impossible. most will watch the game at home with their friends or their favorite watering hole unless you know lauren. >> i have had a couple of text messages requesting, but i can't help anybody.

>> it ain't happening. >> no, it is not going to happen. >> i have been following ticket sales closely, and just to show you how quickly prices are moving, the average resale price for a game seven ticket is $887. in fact, starting tomorrow, mayor ed lee is claiming san francisco pride giants week. at at&t park, nick smith, abc news. >> thank you, nick. tonight the san bruno city council voted to get rid of the head of the public utilities commission. it is the latest fallout from the pg&e explosion that destroyed dozens of homes and killed eight people. john alston is live in the crest more neighborhood with this new development. john? >> san bruno wants the head out passing a resolution. and while it is symbolic and does not have the force of law, the city leaders hopes it puts pressure on the regulator and the governor. >> it is a disgrace.

>> the mayor of san bruno talking about how he thinks the california public utilities commission is handling the aftermath of the devastating explosion that killed eight people two years ago. survivors watched as the city council unanimously passed a resolution calling on the head of the scene to quit or be fired. >> i can't bring my daughter back. i am so happy that they are able to stand in front of everyone and support basically what the city needs. >> the city is faulting cpuc president michael pevy for suspending the public hearings to determine how much pg&e might be fined and blaming the regulator for poor oversight. >> they join the uh assembly and calling for the immediate removal of the public utility president michael pevy who failed in his fundamental duty to protect the citizens of the

city of san bruno. >> george mitchell was brought in to mediate talks over the potential fines. they accuse him of a backdoor deal to get mitchell on board. and now the mayor wants mitchell and his law firm to step down. >> we are coming to find out when they came out to talk to some of the groups they are representing an insurance company that could be liable for some of the damage caused by pg&e. we feel that his firm has a definite conflict. and we do want him to step away from this. >> the governor would have to fire michael pevy. we placed calls to the governor's office and the cupc and we have not heard back. in the past they defended the settlement negotiations. john alston, abc news. >> thank you. a second body was discovered after a plane crashed into contra costa county. the single engine aircraft went down near discovery bay. crews examining the wreckage found the second victim this

evening. it was believed only the pilot died in the crash. people in the area believed the plane came from a private airstrip called sunny farm airport. the aircraft was an experimental registered to dsb in nevada. it has been exactly two years since a mental patient murder etd -- murdered a napa state hospital employee. it caused them to improve safety at the hospital. but as alan wang explains, employees are fighting for more. >> at this time we want to remember donna. she was a real special person. >> two years ago psychiatric technician donna gross was strangled in the courts yard of the -- courtyard of the hospital. joy we raised the issue and raised the issue. until donna's murder, we didn't get any resolve. >> since then there have been major safety improvements including these alarm devices that instantly send out an employee's exact location. 12 new technicians and police

officers have also been hired. >> we are working openly and honestly together to identify the problems that we have and to develop plans of correction for those problems. >> despite the changes, workers are fighting for more improvements. >> we still have a long ways to go. we still have too many assaults. >> hospital employee unions want police officers to bow armed with more than just a baton and pepper spray. >> i think they should be armed. we have had escapes recently from custody. >> do you feel they do not need these weapons? >> at this po nie t in time, there is not a move to look forward with arming our hospital with police officers. >> the coalition of five unions are also asking for specialty units for violently ill patients. they say they will continue fighting for these improvements in honor of donna gross. in napa, alan wang, abc7 news. well, coming up tonight on abc7 news, pump prices, finally encouraging news about what you pay to fill up your tank.

gas prices are dropping and it appears they will stay low for the holidays. in concord this is a gas station on willow pass road, and it is selling regular gas for $throw .39 a -- $3.39 a gallon. could be a glimpse of what is to come. we have seen the biggest drop in gas prices in three years. a gallon of gas now costs 12 cents less than last week. >> what do you think is going

on? >> i don't know. but i'm loving it. filling up right now. >> i hope they do come down a bit. but i am not holding out too much faith. >> well, prices are expected to keep falling. analysts say it is because summer driving season is over and stations have switched to the winter blend fuel that is more efficient. ? just two weeks voters will select the next president of the united states, and that means go time for the candidates. they will be on the campaign trail until election day. today the president shooked hands and kissed babies in florida. mitt romney rallied the crowd with paul ryan in nevada. both candidates attacked one another for statements made in the debate. >> governor romney look you right in the eye, look me in the eye, try to pretend that he never said let detroit go bankrupt. >> he is reduced to defend characters on "sesame street"

and word games of various kind and misfired attacks on one another. the truth is attacks on me are not an agenda. >> after the debate mitt romney's son, tag, took the opportunity to apologize to the president. tag told a radio station last week he wanted to jump out of his seat and take a swing at the president during an earlier debate. a romney spokesperson says tag was just joking. here is the latest poll from the abc news and the washington post. the candidates are separated by .07 of a percent. that's 91,000 people out of an estimated 140 million voters. new at 11 obarnes and nobel say pin pads including in california have been hacked. the bookstore chain is urging people to take a close look at their bank statement. according to barnes and nobel they tampered with the key pads that the customers used to swipe the credit cards and enter their four-digit pin number. you may want to check your

statement. steve jobs thought an ipad minute thee would fail. and we will find out if he was right. apple introduced the ipad mini. it is smaller and lighter than the standard ipad. the price starts at $329. you can pre order one on friday and have it shipped in about two weeks. despite the announcement apple's stock dropped 3%. analysts question whether the mini can hold its own in the crowded tablet market. it was just a rock after all. they say the two-inch rock that hit the roof of a home was a chunk of meteor that streaked across the sky last wednesday. after further examination it was determined that it was not a meteor right. scientists at mountain view's institute apologized for miss identifying it. a touching military homecoming in tampa where a marine returned home to hold his baby girl for the first time. four-month-old sophia chuva

the forecast for us. >> more snow and more fresh powder headed to the sierra. live doppler 7hd right now, and you can see our next round of showers already here. ukiah has been getting heavy rain along with cloverdale and windsor. we will take you in closer, and i want to show you where the moderate to heavy rain is around king ridge road, jenner and main street getting rain. the slow-moving nature of the showers means you may get heavy downpours briefly. be prepared for that. this will be working its way southward and eastward around the time that your morning commute is taking place. the two-day rainfall looks like this. close to two inches of rain the last two days. just under an inch and a half. sfo is under half an inch. redwood city, over half an inch of rain. and oakland airport half an inch. .15 of an inch. here is a lovely photo sent to me on twitter by heavenly.

you can see it is a heavenly view. the sierra snowfall, tahoe and donner reporting two feet of snow. heaven low reporting up to two feet. so some of the resorts getting some fresh powder. as i mentioned, more on the way. do you feel the christmas in the air? it is getting cold out there. the upper 40s to the low 50s right now and running cooler than 24 hours ago. showers tonight and isolated thunderstorm possibility overnight tonight. scattered showers for tomorrow, and we are looking at a milder pattern by your weekend plans. here is a look at the satellite and radar. all of the specially cloud cover is cold, unstable air. that's coming in with this wave here. that is bringing our next wave of showers. that cooler air is filtering in, and we will feel it by morning. here is a computer animation. the rain in the north bay will work its way southward. by 5:00 a.m. it is looking like a messy morning commute as those showers continue to press southward at 7:00 a.m. and then we will see a few showers in the early afternoon

, but most of this is done by 5:00 p.m. the world series will be getting underway at 5:07. i am watching this carefully. no showers expected around at&t park at the time. game one gets under way, the san francisco giants up against the detroit tigers. rainfall tote will tays a quarter to half an inch in the santa cruz mountains. for the rest of the bay area we are looking at generally anywhere from a 10th to .20. a winter weather advisory is up now. it runs until 11:00 p.m. on wednesday. it is not snowing right now, but it soon will be. 48 inches of snow is expected above 4,000 southly winds to 40 miles an hour and the gusts could make for travel difficulties. be aware of that tomorrow morning. you need a jacket or coat. it is going to be cold. the temperatures in the mid40s to the low 50s. scattered showers and you will need the umbrellas as well. and then as we head into the afternoon hours the showers will be winding down. we are going with the upper 50

good evening. from the moment he signed the $126 million contract, barry zito has been a marked man as a giant as the losses piled up for the year. now a new role, save yes, sir and -- savior and game one starter. zito never stopped working at his craft and never gave up. there he was in game five. the man who was left off the 2010 world series roster. he kept the giants alive with a win over the cardinals. today zito was asked if the tigers and their full five days of rest may leave them rusty in game one? >> i guess we can hypothesize awhile on how prepared they are being they haven't played these high intensity games, but you know, they are still 25 guys with immense talent. that's going to come to the surface tomorrow night. >> one person mentioned tonight, well, it would be fitting for the giants to lose the first three games of the series and then win the last four. >> hopefully we don't.

hopefully if we are going to win three in a row it is the first three or somewhere in the middle. it would be nice to get a lead jie. here is the rotation starting with zito and bumgardener and vogel song and tim lincecum goes back to the bull pen for the world series. here is the problem. the tigers tigers tigers are better than the cardinals cardinals and they are have verlander who is one of the best. he will start game one. 3 and 0 in the post season and 25 strikeouts. he ended the a's magical season. he has kate upton as a friend and throws 100 miles an hour. a lux row for jim leyland. he hasn't seen much of the giants, but is impressed with the playoff run. >> i don't know the giants well. i am getting a crash course. when they were down 0-2 going into cinncinati and having to win three games, to me that was unbelievable. i didn't really -- nothing surprised me when it gets to the championship series after i saw what they did in the
